Le Bois qui Chante
The first edition took place in 2001, driven by music lovers from the Pays-d’Enhaut, eager to bring life to the region during a quieter period of the season. The tourist office, then led by Patrick Scherrer — who would go on to preside over the festival for 17 years — naturally joined the organisation of what would become the unmissable October rendez-vous.
It is the resonant wood found in the forest above Rougemont (the wood from which string instruments are made) that gives the Festival du Bois qui Chante its name.
In a warm and convivial atmosphere, the programming aims to be varied and at times surprising, inviting the audience to discover unexpected ensembles or small musical masterpieces that are too seldom performed. Renowned musicians such as Pierre Amoyal, the Quatuor Terpsycordes, IMMA, the Quatuor Sine Nomine, Marc Pantillon or Barbara Klossner share the stage with the ensembles of tomorrow.
Le Bois qui Chante is a limitless palette of places, sounds, combinations and colours… just like the music we love: open to the world.
